A 6-year-old boy who was found unresponsive in a supervised pool at a Hopkins country club has been pronounced dead.
Hopkins police say the boy was swimming Friday evening while at a birthday party at Oak Ridge Country Club. A lifeguard noticed he wasn't moving, and club employees and members began performing CPR.
A Minneapolis Star Tribune report ( http://bit.ly/L8WGHJ) says the boy was taken to a Minneapolis hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg says it's unclear what led to the drowning. He says there weren't any known issues with equipment safety at the pool.
He says situation is obviously tragic, and he reminds people to be vigilant about pool safety.
