On the big Island of Hawaii, they have a geothermal pool, next to the ocean and the cool waves come spilling into the pool. People swim all the time. There is a lifeguard, but no disinfectant. Someone stated that if you have any open cuts it may not be safe to go in the water. Rocks and sand and an occaisional fish are in the pool.

Solar heating is the way to go--if you run out of sunlight, you can always kick in the generator.
