The Portland Area Aquatics Council (Aquatic networking group for the Portland Oregon metro area including SW Washington) are planing on hosting a lifeguard Games in the Pacific Northwest July 19th 2014.
We are in the process of sorting out the details, but I thought instead of reinventing the wheel to ask what others have done? What has been successful, what would you never do again?

What events did you have? What judging criteria did you use? Could you share?
Do you charge for the event? If so did an organization or agency keep the funds or did it go to a charity?
Did you have sponsors?
Did you award prizes? If so what kinds of prizes?
