From a technology perspective, what we've found to be extremely useful is a Internet program called "When to Work". We learned about it from the City of San Ramon at the California Aquatic Management School. All our schedules are on the cloud, all our staff have access to their schedule on their phones. We are in our second year. No complaints, 180 staff love it.
Whentowork is AMAZING! We are in our fourth year using it at my current facility, and this is the second facility I have gotten on to the system. I can't imagine having to go back to a pen and paper scheduling system. Nice to see there are more operators out there taking advantage ;)
I don't know if they still do it but W2W used to offer a free 30 day trial for up to 30 employees. After the first 14 days at my last facility the Parks & Rec Director had already authorized purchasing the full version for a year, they still use it 8 years later.
Make sure to list Pete's agency as your referrer if you to because then they get a 10% discount on their next year's billing :)
