Comment by Gary Thill on September 16, 2011 at 10:07am Another tragic story, showing again, how it can be a matter of life and death when it comes to wearing a lifejacket. A father, who was an police officer with the NYPD, took his 5 year-old son out on an inflatable kayak this past weekend. A wake from a passing boat knocked them overboard. A boater spotted the son, who was wearing a lifejacket, bobbing in the water and rescued him. The father was later recovered with his shield and revolver still on him; he was not wearing a lifejacket.
