As aquatic professionals we owe it to ourselves and the public we serve to take part in regular professional development. In March the Association of Aquatic Professionals will be hosting their second annual conference in Austin, Texas. The first conference last year was a great event and the line up of speakers and traininers looks great again this year.
Maybe you can't afford to go to Texas to train, if so then I still encourage you to find something closer to home. Local…

Isn't this just perfect? A law gets passed before the drain products to comply are even available. Then we all have to spend precious dollars during the worse economic downfall since the great depression to replace perfectly good drains in pools with two main drains. We pay for the drains and the installation and certification, then they get recalled.
How much is this going to cost me to get the old ones out and newer ones in? If I have a faulty drain will I be out of…

Our heritage as Aquatic Professionals is so rich. For decades our industry has been working to improve water safety and the rescue techniques used to save people. But I often wonder, in our effort to simplify our training programs, make courses shorter, reduce rescue techeniques to a couple of simple methods (everything starts from the rear rescue) have we left behind a lot of great lifesaving techniques that can still be applicable today?

Hey Jim,
I just wanted to let you know that I showed the 4-on1 webinar from San Antonio at the last run of in-services for my supervisory staff and it was really well received. It made them think about how to get our staff to drill harder and work faster. I also teach a lot of the same concepts so it doesn't sound as crazy when they hear it from someone else. Hope all is well on the left coast this summer. Are you planning on making an appearance at the WWA conference in NO?
